Biosynthesis of cobalamins by cell suspensions of propionibacteria and streptomycetes.

چکیده
The microbial synthesis of cobalamins first described by Rickes et al. (1948) as an attribute of Streptomyces griseus has been found to be a synthetic property of many microbial genera when grown in media containing cobalt salts (Darken, 1953). In all of the experiments described in the literature the microorganisms have been grown in cobalt-containing media, and no mention has been made of the biosynthesis of cobalamins by resting cells, e. g., nonproliferating cells. In this communication we wish to summarizesome of our observations on the biosynthesis of 5,6-dimethylbenzimidazole-hydroxocobalamin and a number of analogues of this vitamin by resting cells of propionibacteria and streptomycetes.

In vitro assessment of the upper gastrointestinal tolerance of potential probiotic dairy propionibacteria.
This study aimed to assess the transit tolerance of potential probiotic dairy propionibacteria strains in human upper gastrointestinal tract in vitro, and to evaluate the effect of food addition on viability of these strains in simulated pH 2.0 gastric juices. The transit tolerance of 13 dairy propionibacteria strains was determined at 37 degrees C by exposing washed cell suspensions to simulat...
متن کاملProduction of gold nanoparticles by Streptomyces djakartensis isolate B-5
Objective(s): Biosynthesis of gold nanoparticles (NGPs) is environmentally safer than chemical and physical procedures. This method requires no use of toxic solvents and synthesis of dangerous products and is environmentally safe. In this study, we report the biosynthesis of NGPs using Streptomyces djakartensis isolate B-5. Materials and Methods: NGPs were biosynthesized by reducing aqueous ...

Objective(s): The development of reliable and ecofriendly process for the synthesis of nano-metals is an important aspect in the field of nanotechnology. Nano-metals are a special group of materials with broad area of applications. Materials and Methods: In this study, extracellular synthesis of silver nanoparticles (SNPs) performed by use of the gram positive soil Streptomycetes. Streptomycete...
متن کاملCytotoxicity effect of secondary metabolites of Streptomyces koyangensis and Streptomyces tunisiensis isolated from saline soils of Garmsar City on human breast cancer cell line (MCF-7, IBRC C10082)
Background: Streptomyces is one of the most important prokaryotic microorganisms, and their secondary metabolites have high antimicrobial and cytotoxic properties. Three-quarters of the antibiotics known to be produced by these bacteria. As a result, finding new effective compounds from these microorganisms can be a way to treat cancer. The aim of this study was to isolate and screen halophilic...
متن کاملCobalamins and cobalamin-dependent enzymes in Candida utilis.
Candida utilis has been shown to contain 4.7 pmol of cobalamin per g of wet cell paste. Purification of the cobalamin showed it to be a mixture of methylcobalamin and adenosylcobalamin. Two cobalamin-dependent enzyme systems have been found in the yeast: methylcobalamin-dependent methionine biosynthesis and leucine 2,3-aminomutase. The cobalamin extracted from the yeast is as effective as authe...
